2. Project Description

Purpose (Educational objective you want to achieve)	 To enhance students’ cross-cultural literacy by learning and appreciating cultural values from Indonesia and Korea.  To connect students with Global Citizenship Education (GCED) principles, especially sustainability and cultural respect.
Topic (Title of the project, description, and reason for choosing thi,,,s topic)	Title: Strengthening Cross-Cultural Literacy through Local Stories from Indonesia and Korea
	Description and Reason: This project engages students in researching, writing, and illustrating bilingual storybooks featuring traditional tales and moral values from Indonesia and Korea. By using recycled paper and eco-friendly materials, students gain awareness of sustainability while strengthening cross-cultural understanding. The project aligns with Global Citizenship Education (GCED) goals, promoting literacy, cultural respect, and environmental stewardship.
Method (What kind of resources do you need? Where and how are you going to get the resources/ information? How are you planning to reach the target result?)	Resources Needed • Local folklore books and online archives from Indonesia and Korea. • Art supplies for illustration. • Recycled paper and binding materials. • Access to libraries, cultural centers, and community elders for cultural insights.   Where & How to Get Resources/Information • Collaborate with local libraries and cultural centers for folklore references. • Use online platforms and e-libraries for research. • Conduct interviews with elders or cultural practitioners. • Collect recycled paper from schools and community recycling programs.   Implementation Plan 1. Introduce GCED and sustainability concepts. 2. Divide students into teams to research stories. 3. Write bilingual (Indonesian–Korean) story drafts. 4. Illustrate stories using eco-friendly materials. 5. Hand-bind the books with recycled paper. 6. Hold a book exhibition and reflection session.   How to Reach Target Result • Assign clear group roles (writer, illustrator, designer). • Provide guidance workshops for story writing and illustration. • Set milestones for research, drafting, and book production. • Showcase books to a larger audience (school/community) to encourage pride and intercultural sharing.
